The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), a neutral and independent humanitarian organization, has a vacancy at its Mission in Greece for a resident position based in Lesvos:

Psychosocial Support Assistant (part-time) – Lesvos

The PSS Assistant is a member of the Psychosocial Support team, which facilitates the implementation of PSS/recreational activities at Olive Grove/ Moria. The Assistants are given responsibilities regarding the planning and implementation of activities and are also expected to carry out certain administrative and reporting tasks which require regularity and commitment. They are also expected to be role models for the volunteers and supporters, as the volunteers and supporters are expected to act as role models for their peers and other members of the community.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Functional Responsibilities:

Under supervision provides basic PSS to individuals who attend the activities.
Supports PSS volunteers/supporters to enable their work during the planning and implementation of activities.
Engages community leaders and other relevant actors in supporting beneficiaries to access PSS activities.
Supports the Identification of training needs of PSS Assistants and volunteers/ supporters.
Supports team- building and other support activities for volunteers/supporters.
Assesses the evolving needs for PSS volunteers/supporters and with the guidance of the PSS Supervisor/ Social Worker, develops an action plan, including relevant program materials and tools.
Participates in workshops/trainings related to the support of vulnerable groups, people with disabilities, and other relevant subjects.
Ensures participation from beneficiaries in PSS activities.
Provides relevant inputs to the Social Worker/PSS Supervisor for the development of a PSS strategy.
Relationships:

Internally: Interacts with the PSS team (Social Worker/PSS Supervisor, PSS Assistants, and Volunteers/Supporters) and other ICRC staff members.

Externally: Interacts with beneficiaries, service users and whoever attends the PSS activities; also coordinates with other NGOs staff who operate in Moria camp/Olive Grove, if needed, targeting at the improvement of the services provided.

Requirements:

Secondary education completed
Fluent English and Farsi (spoken)
Participation in workshops/trainings on Psychosocial Support/Psychological First Aid and other related fields would be a strong asset.
Previous experience supporting the implementation of PSS activities would be a strong asset
Previous experience with volunteer support and management would be a strong asset
Driving license (desirable)
Knowledge of Greek considered a strong asset
